How do I customize a gallery's access and privacy settings?

  • Updated

You want your clients to feel safe and secure when it comes to sharing their images. With ShootProof, you have full control over gallery status and accessibility in your Gallery Settings. Using the General and Access & Privacy tabs in the Gallery Settings, customize your client galleries to be Active, Inactive, or Pre-Release, and whether they are Public or Private.

In the Gallery Settings, click into the General tab. In this tab, you set the status of the galley.

There are 3 gallery statuses to choose from:

  • Active - Clients can access and view the gallery.
  • Inactive - Clients can’t access or view the gallery.
  • Pre-Release - This allows gallery visitors to enter an email address to be notified when the gallery is released. You can learn about using the Pre-Release setting here.

There are additional settings in this tab related to dates for the gallery. You can learn more about those settings here.

Next, go to the Access & Privacy tab. Here you can make choose the gallery access and set the password and email requirements.Screen Shot 2023-02-14 at 2.29.55 PM.png

The two options for gallery access are:

  • Public - These galleries are visible to anyone who visits your ShootProof Portfolio Website. Public galleries can still be password-protected so that they are not accessible to everyone who visits your ShootProof Portfolio Website. In a Public gallery, the brand name link in the top left corner of the gallery goes to ShootProof Portfolio Website.
  • Private - These galleries are accessible only by the direct link that you provide your client. In a Private gallery, the brand name link in the top left corner of the gallery does not go ShootProof Portfolio Website and will go to the Photos section of the gallery.

You can add another layer of security by requiring a password to access the gallery. We recommend that you set a strong password that does not reference the gallery name in any way.

Requiring an email address to enter the gallery is a good idea as it allows you to see who has accessed the gallery, and when.

If you don’t require an email address up front, visitors will still be required to enter an email address later, if they take action in the gallery such as favoriting or downloading images.

Always be sure to click Save in the top right corner of the page after you’ve made changes to your settings.
