How do I set a gallery or album cover image?

  • Updated

For each gallery, you can set a cover image that will display on the gallery intro page. It will be the first thing visitors see when they arrive at the gallery, so remember to always set a cover image. You also have the option to show these images as banner images in the gallery.

You can set cover images for albums and sub-albums as well.

Set a Gallery Cover Image

Use a Photo Uploaded to the Gallery

  1. Go to Galleries > All Galleries > Manage on the specific gallery

  2. Click to select the photo you'd like to use as the cover image by clicking on it

  3. Click the Actions link on the image or the More Actions button

  4. Select Set Gallery Cover

  5. Set the focal point

    • This is most helpful when you’ve selected a vertically oriented image. It will help
ensure that important parts of the photo are not cut off, like a head or specific body part, when a client views the gallery.

  6. Click Save Cover

Upload a New Photo as the Gallery Cover Image

* This specific photo will not show in the photo gallery, and will not count towards your plan.

  1. Go to Galleries > All Galleries > click on the specific gallery

  2. Click on the + in the rectangle in the top left corner of the gallery

  3. Select Upload a Photo to select a file, upload, and save

Set an Album Cover Image

If you have set up albums within a gallery, you can also choose a cover image for each album.

  1. Go to Galleries > All Galleries > click on the specific gallery

  2. Click on Manage Albums on the left

  3. Select the album with which you wish to work

  4. Select a photo you'd like to use as the album cover image by clicking on it

  5. Select Set Album Cover from the Actions menu on the photo or under the More Actions menu

* If an album does not contain photos (i.e., it contains sub-albums with photos in them), you can upload a photo to use as the album cover by clicking on the + in the top left corner of the gallery.

Set Album Cover Images Automatically

If you'd like ShootProof to randomly select a photo as the album cover image during upload, simply turn this option on in the Gallery Settings before uploading images, or select this option in your Gallery Presets.

When you upload your files to a gallery, ShootProof will automatically select a photo from each album and set it as the album cover. You can always replace the chosen image with another photo if you wish.

Note: You cannot currently automatically select gallery cover images, only album cover images.

  1. Go to Gallery Settings > Advanced > toggle on the Set Album Cover Images Automatically option

  2. Upload images as normal.

    • (Hint: Use the Desktop Uploader and your albums will be created automatically according to the folders on your computer!)
